Are you passionate about news, radio, and storytelling? The Jacaranda FM and VOW FM News Internship Programme for 2025 is now accepting applications. This one-year, full-time opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to break into the media industry and gain practical newsroom experience.
About the Programme
This internship is a partnership between Jacaranda FM, VOW FM (Voice of Wits), and the Wits Radio Academy. It offers structured on-the-job training, academic development, and real newsroom exposure. Interns rotate between both stations over the course of 12 months, allowing them to learn in both commercial and campus radio environments.
Interns will receive a monthly stipend to support them during the programme.
Key Responsibilities
At Jacaranda FM:
- Assist in newsroom operations
- Conduct field reporting and interviews
- Support journalists with research and audio editing
- Write and compile news stories
At VOW FM:
- Present daily news bulletins
- Produce and package current affairs content
- Contribute to digital and social media news platforms
- Assist with content planning and reporting
Who Should Apply?
To be considered, applicants must:
- Hold a degree or diploma in journalism, media studies, communications, or a related field
- Be passionate about radio and journalism
- Be fluent in English (Afrikaans is an advantage)
- Be hardworking, reliable, and able to meet deadlines
- Have a valid driver’s license or be in the process of obtaining one
Candidates must also demonstrate strong writing skills, audio production ability, and the willingness to work irregular hours if required.

- End Date: June 2026
- Location: Johannesburg and Midrand
- A monthly stipend will be provided
