The Department of Employment and Labour invites unemployed South African graduates (aged 18–35) to apply for its 2025/2027 Graduate Internship Programme. With over 10,000 positions across all 9 provinces, this 24-month programme offers practical experience and a monthly stipend of R7,450.62.

Available Internships:
- Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) (3,812 posts): Conduct workplace inspections, enforce OHS Act compliance, and investigate incidents.
- Requirements: National Diploma/Degree (NQF6/7) in Environmental Health, Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Construction Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational Health, or Explosives Management. Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Basic Conditions of Employment (BCEA) (3,727 posts): Inspect compliance with BCEA regulations and investigate complaints.
- Requirements: National Diploma/Degree (NQF6/7) in Labour Relations, BCom Law, or LLB. Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Employment Equity (EEA) (513 posts): Monitor compliance with the Employment Equity Act and support investigations.
- Requirements: National Diploma/Degree (NQF6/7) in BCom Law, LLB, or Labour Law. Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Employment Audit Service (948 posts): Conduct employer audits and ensure compliance with labour laws.
- Requirements: National Diploma/Degree (NQF6/7) in relevant fields (e.g., Labour Relations, Auditing). Valid driver’s license preferred.
Who Can Apply?
- South African citizens or valid work permit holders, aged 18–35.
- Unemployed, with no prior internship programme participation.
- Clear criminal and credit record.
- National Diploma (NQF6) or Degree (NQF7) in relevant fields (e.g., BCom, Law, Engineering, Agriculture).
- Valid driver’s license is advantageous but not mandatory.
How to Apply:
- Download and complete the Z83 form from www.gov.za/documents.
- Submit online via ESSA Portal or email to the relevant provincial office (e.g., WC.OHS@labour.gov.za for Western Cape OHS).
- Include an updated CV; certified copies of ID, qualifications, and transcripts to be submitted if shortlisted.
