Role Overview
As a Plant Operator with Ivanhoe Mines, your primary responsibility is to operate, monitor, and maintain processing plant equipment. Your work will support the smooth and safe operation of machinery essential to the mine’s production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate crushing, milling, screening, or other processing equipment
- Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to keep operations within set parameters
- Perform routine equipment inspections and initiate corrective actions
- Ensure that safety protocols and operational procedures are strictly followed
- Conduct minor repairs and equipment setup as necessary
- Keep accurate records of machine operation and maintenance activities
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve issues
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Completed Matric (Grade 12)
- Certificate or training in mechanical, electrical, or mine plant operations preferred
- Prior experience operating industrial or processing equipment is advantageous
- Strong understanding of safety standards and equipment operation
- Good mechanical aptitude and ability to learn technical processes
- Ability to work shift-based schedules in a mining environment
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and in teams
