The Department of Education and Play, in partnership with Cotlands, offers free online Early Childhood Development (ECD) certificates to empower South Africans with skills to combat unemployment and nurture young minds. These courses, hosted via platforms like educourse and playsa.org, provide accessible training for aspiring ECD practitioners without financial barriers.

Who Can Apply?

  • South African citizens with a valid ID.
  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; lower grades may be considered for some programmes.
  • Aged 18–35, unemployed, and not enrolled in other learnerships/studies.
  • Passion for working with children; no criminal record (clearance from National Child Protection Register required).
  • Basic English proficiency; computer literacy is a plus.
