Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced store cleaner to join their Optenhorst branch in Paarl. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the store. Areas of responsibility include the store floor, stock room, dispensary, admin office, and canteen.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- At least six months of cleaning experience
- A good command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- An additional local language is an advantage
- Willingness and ability to work retail hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous cleaning experience in a retail environment
- Bilingual abilities
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Maintain excellent hygiene and cleanliness throughout the store, including shop floor and shared areas
- Clean restrooms and the canteen regularly and ensure they are always stocked
- Follow a routine that ensures all assigned areas meet cleanliness standards
- Be available during store hours to handle cleaning as needed
- Use the correct cleaning products and equipment for each task
- Display wet floor signs while cleaning to ensure customer and staff safety
- Maintain a professional and helpful attitude toward customers
- Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations while performing duties

Employment Conditions
- Willing and able to work retail hours including weekends and public holidays
- Physically fit to handle tasks such as walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting
- Must have reliable transport or live close to the store
- Must be a South African citizen with clear criminal and credit records
