City of Polokwane Municipality Learnerships 2025-2026

About City of Polokwane Municipality
The Polokwane Local Municipality is classified as a Category B municipality in the Limpopo Province and falls under the jurisdiction of the Capricorn District. It is one of four municipalities within the district and spans just under 25% of the district’s total land area. Although it occupies only about 3% of Limpopo’s entire geographical area, it is home to roughly 10% of the province’s total population, highlighting its significant population density relative to its size. The economic hub of Limpopo is situated in Polokwane, not Mbabane as mistakenly noted.
Polokwane’s economic center is positioned at the core of the city and includes the central business district (CBD), industrial zones, a range of public and social services, as well as well-developed formal urban neighborhoods that predominantly accommodate the city’s more affluent residents. Meanwhile, the outskirts of the city are populated by less formal and often underserved settlement areas. These areas are experiencing rapid population growth due to ongoing rural-to-urban migration, reflecting broader demographic trends in the province.
