Introduction
The role of Shop Assistant Cashier focuses on providing excellent customer service through effective point of sale (POS) operations and in-store merchandising, creating a pleasant shopping experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities
The role of the Shop Assistant Cashier involves the following duties and responsibilities to be fulfilled:
- Perform all point of sale activities accurately and promptly.
- Ensure precision when scanning items and processing payments, including applying clubcard rewards.
- Handle cash securely at all times.
- Actively promote and register new Clicks clubcard members to help meet participation goals.
- Inform customers about ongoing promotions to drive sales and enhance their shopping experience.
- Represent the brand positively by delivering courteous, helpful, and professional service.
- Maintain store appearance through merchandising and housekeeping in line with company standards.
- Support the company’s mission to be the top choice in health and beauty retail by living its core values.
- Stay knowledgeable about current products, ranges, promotions, and events to assist customers effectively.
Knowledge Requirements
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Retail or FMCG experience, with knowledge of promotions and merchandising.
- Familiarity with stock control procedures.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants will be required to meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this role:
- Preferably some background in customer service, especially in retail or FMCG operations.
- Grade 12 or Equivalent NQF Level 4.
- At least 50% in both Maths and English at Grade 12 level.
